Saudi- OIC calls for emergency meeting to resolve syrian refugees crisis


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) said on Thursday that it would hold an emergency meeting next Sunday in Jeddah to discuss the implications of the Syrian refugees crisis OIC said in a press release that the Secretariat-General has extended invitations to all member states to attend the meeting of the OIC's Excutive Committee to discuss the current refugees crisis.

The Executive Committee comprises Islamic Conference troika that includes Egypt, Senegal, Turkey whereas the Foreign ministers troika includes Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan in addition to the Secretary General Iyad Madani.

OIC's Secretary General Iyad Madani earlier in this week called on all its member-countries, as well as the international community as a whole to put aside their differences and mobilize all efforts to help the Syrian people and refugees.

Since the beginning of the crisis, the OIC has been following, with deep concern, the escalating human tragedy of the Syrian refugees fleeing their homes and seeking refuge in neighboring countries, he noted.
