British economic growth plunges to 0.5 percent of GDP

(MENAFN) British economy witnessed a slight slump in its growth process through the current quarter up to August, slowing from 0.6 percent of GDP over the three months to July to 0.5 percent over the three months to the end of August.

However, growth remains close to the projected long run potential of the economy, but below the average rate of growth which is 0.7 percent per quarter, which was detected since the start of 2013.

Meanwhile, any continued slumping of the Eurozone economy would have a downside effect on UK development in the future, as it is Britain's main export partner, according to The National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

"This figure is somewhat in line from what we were expecting from our quarterly UK figures, it is still a reasonable rate of growth, which is around the potential rate of growth figure rather than above it," said an economic researcher.
