(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Chairman's Cup 2015 concluded with a new batch of stalwart players who proved they have what it takes to take home the Championship Award.
As they gathered at Nasser Sports Complex, the players all geared up to outdo each other in order to grab the first prize. Despite being competitive, the players made it a point to enjoy the game while showing sportsmanship and camaraderie. They might have been tough in dealing with each other inside the court but kinship and unity remained after the game.
This event would not have been possible if not for the people who worked behind the scene to ensure its success. Thanks to the organizer, the Filipino Badminton Club in Kuwait - FILBACK, headed by acting Chairman and overall tournament Director Noel Candolesas, tournament Directors Nato Calanog and Alex Hernandez together with FILBACK's officers and members in partnership with their major sponsor for this event Abraaj Water which quenched the players' thirst and refreshed them after each game.
Srinivas and Calanog stood out as they emerged as the best players in the Advance Level of the tourney. They played with passion such that they outshone their opponents.
The players who were declared winners in their respective categories are the following: Vasu Srinivas and Nato Calanog for Level A, Ainur Duma Jul and Eugene Torralba for Level B, Melissa Ramos and Aurora Martin for Level C, and Julieanne Laroya and Maricel Lacson for Level D.
During the elimination week, the players were pitted against each other in random as they earned points and gained their standing in the tournament. For this week, the players were partnered based on the rankings they earned in the whole tournament.
Level A
In the Level A category, Vasu Srinivas and Nato Calanog defended the Championship title in the Finals as they surpassed their opponents Mathew Jacob and Gerry Aguilar in a 3-set game 21-19, 16-21, 23-21 with the latter taking the 1st Runner Up Award while the 2nd Runner Up title went to Richard Amoto and Emil Millanar.
Level B
In the Level B Category, Ainur Duma Jul and Eugene Torralba were proclaimed unbeaten stars so they took the Championship award. They pummeled their opponents Carlito and Choi during the Final Round 21-14, 21-17. Carlito Talampas and Choi Commendador were declared as 1st Runner Up winners after losing to Ainur and Eugene. The team of Bong Labayo and Richieland Puasan ended up as the 2nd Runner Up awardee.
Level C
In the Level C Category, Melissa Ramos and Aurora Martin were declared Champions as they beat the 1st Runner Up title holders Chito Santos and Jaime Berjes during their game in the Finals 21-18, 21-15. The team who took home the 2nd Runner Up award included Mariecris Malilay and Susan Santos.
Level D
The team who took home the crown in this category were Julieanne Laroya and Maricel Lacson as they flattened their opponents Joy Agaloos and Gemma dela Cruz took the 1st Runner Up award after their game in the Final Round 21-7, 21-17. Joy and Gemma were declared 2nd Runner Up winners as they defeated Irene Raban and Remy Larano in the Semi-Finals 21-20, 17-21, 21-17.

Another exciting event will start on Sept 11, 2015 - the Officers' Cup 2015 which will be held at Nasser Sports Complex. Registration is now open. For badminton enthusiasts, you can inquire through FILBACK'S official Facebook page: FILBACK PHOTOS. It is a 4-week game on Sept 11, Sept 25, Oct 2 and Oct 9, 2015.
Also, come and support the interclub tournament on Sept 18, 2015 - the 3rd Four Feathers Tournament to be hosted by FBAA and it will be held in their home court.
