(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A new initiative launched in Dubai on Wednesday hopes to empower youth across the region to find employment in the private sector.
The "Expand Your Horizon" initiative is a result of partnerships between INJAZ Al Arab - the regional representative of Junior Achievement Worlwide - and a number of corporate entities including aviation giant Boeing Marriott International MBC Hope Wamda and Aramex. "Unemployment is a growing concern in the Middle East for Arab youth. Furthermore our research shows that students have limited understanding about the industries where jobs are and thus are continuing to limit their efforts on government jobs" said Akef Aqrabawi President and CEO of Junior Achievement Middle East. "The Expand Your Horizon programme has therefore been designed to serve as a tool to encourage youth to learn more about the industries with the most potential and link them to existing opportunities in the market" he added. As part of the campaign young people in the region will be provided with information on career and internship opportunities in a number of sectors including aviation hospitality media and logistics. A key component of the "Expand Your Horizon" campaign will be a web portal which provides guidance on necessary skills on proper resume writing and on internship applications. "We are excited to be launching this platform that will bring together employers and future employees in a simple and convenient way. Our partners have been fundamental in driving this campaign in to a reality and creating a clear path towards Arab youth empowerment" Aqrabawi added.
