Talking about the song at an event in Mumbai, Aishwarya said: "We wanted to stay true to the film. Just because we had Sanjay (Gupta), I and Ahmed Khan, we didn't want to add dance moves. We just kept it very simple and stayed true to the film."

Aishwarya is portraying a criminal lawyer in the film. Actor Jackie Shroff, who was present at the event, praised his Devdas co-star as "one of the best actresses in Bollywood". The song Bandeyaa, sung by Jubin Nautiyal and composed by Amjad-Nadeem, is an intense track, and depicts a tragic mood.
