Oman- Indian restaurant 1947 opens in Ghubra


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A new Indian restaurant - 1947 - opened in Ghubra on Wednesday under the patronage of H E Indra Mani Pandey India's Ambassador to Oman. The restaurant is operated by Al Shorouq Group which also runs Ananthapuri Restaurant in Ruwi. It has a capacity to seat 96 guests.

The restaurant has been named 1947 after the year India won its independence from colonial rule.

Biby Jacob managing director Al Shorouq Group said 'At 1947 patrons can enjoy sumptuous Indian delicacies with a generous dose of history on the side. Most people are aware of personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel but there are many other prominent figures who had played a significant role in India's freedom like Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan who is also known as 'Frontier Gandhi' and Lord Mountbatten who oversaw the transfer of power to India.  Our aim is to reintroduce the proud history of India's struggle to our customers while they enjoy a variety of authentic dishes.'

1947 offers traditional Indian cuisine with special focus on South Indian delicacies in a unique space with photographs of personalities from history. 'We have also launched an initiative to spread awareness against food wastage. 'As part of the initiative we will place messages on the tables about food consumption and responsible eating culture' Jacob added.
