Turkey- Asian Investment bank invites US Japan to join

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has invited the U.S. and Japan to join Jin Liqun the first president of AIIB said on Tuesday.
"The door is always open for Japan and the U.S. to become members" Liquin said. "I think we will continue to have dialogue."
Speaking in the South Korean capital Seoul Liquin said the bank's membership will increase to 70 very soon.
"We do have quite a number of countries waiting to join. I'd expect that very soon we will have more than 70 countries."
He did not give the name of countries which may join to the 57 founders of the bank.
The U.S. and Japan rejected joining the AIIB and the U.S. has raised concerns about its transparency and its governance.
China began efforts to establish a bank dedicated to development in Asia in October of last year. Since then 57 countries including Asian large economies China India Indonesia Malaysia New Zealand Australia and Singapore have been admitted to founder membership.
Turkey also joined project along with the U.K. France Germany Italy Switzerland Sweden Russia and Luxemburg.
China is the biggest AIIB shareholder with more than 26 per cent of its voting rights. India has 8.52 percent Russia 6.6 percent Germany 4.25 percent and South Korea 3.50 percent.
