Qatar- Al Khulaifi: Coordination of GCC Stances Made Them More Effective


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) HE Minister of labor and Social Affairs Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al Khulaifi hailed the stance of GCC states in standing by Qatar in the recent International Labor Organization (ILO) conference.

HE the minister said the stance was instrumental in mobilizing international support for Qatar, which resulted in closing the submitted protest statement, which alleged discrimination and not to taking action on the subject of the complaint alleging Qatar's non-compliance with the Forced Labor Convention.

HE Al Khulaifi made the remarks as he addressed the second ministerial meeting for GCC ministers of labor, which was held Tuesday at the St. Regis Hotel.

"Coordinating GCC positions made them more powerful and more effective, and led many countries to support us including those that do not have strong ties with us," HE the minister said, stressing the continuity of mutual work to build Gulf cooperation and better future for next generations in line with the path set by GCC leaders.

He noted that the current circumstances in the region are difficult and require a lot of effort and hard work in order to build a human being capable of coping with the requirements of the age.

In a speech delivered on his behalf, GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed sincere gratitude and thanks to HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for Qatar's hosting of the meeting and his support for the joint work march.

Al Zayani noted that directives of HH the Emir and GCC leaders were key to pushing forward the joint march in order to achieve the desired objectives.

He added that the meeting is a main step towards achieving the goals of integration and coordination between GCC states in the field of labor.
