Armenia, Iran plan USD3.5b railway

(MENAFN) Armenia is currently going through negotiations of major trade and investment deals with Iran, after the latter's international sanctions have been lifted.

The Iran-Armenia railway is considered to be one of the top projects set to be built over six years, estimated at USD3.5 billion; other developments include the Iranian gas transit through Armenia.

Iran is prepared to construct the railway's 90 km stretch of the line up to the Armenian border on its own, but the 120 km stretch on the Armenian side requires more investment.

The two countries will also further discuss development of trade, expansion of economic relations and extension of communication links, according to Armenian officials.
