DOHA: In a bid to promote the Philippines as a leading investment tourist and retirement destination the Association of Filipino Real Estate Executives in Qatar (AFREEQ) is organising the first-ever Philippine Property Investor Show Qatar (PPIS-Q) on October 23 and 24 at Swiss-Belhotel Doha.

“PPIS-Q was conceptualised three months ago by Filipino brokers from various developers to contribute to the promotion of the Philippines as a prime investment tourist and retirement destination not only for Filipinos but also for locals and other expatriates” said AFREEQ Chairman Joseph Rivera.

Speaking at a press meet yesterday Rivera said the event gathers major developers in the Philippines for two days of lectures and business to business meetings and provides a one-stop shop for Overseas Filipino homebuyers and Qatari investors.

Participating developers include SMDC Megaworld International Century Properties Vista Land Filinvest Aboitiz Land Robinsons Land Ayala Land International Major Homes and Properties and DMCI.

“Unlike other exhibitions this expo is non-profit. It highlights 18 lectures on Philippine Property investment featuring speakers from relevant agencies in the Philippines” he added.

Speakers include representatives from the Philippine Senate the House of Representatives Philippine Retirement Authority and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board among others.

It is hoped that the expo will be held annually and act as a springboard for more future events to boost the sector said Rivera.

Organised in cooperation with Pixel Fox for Events and Advertising the event has strong support from the Philippine Embassy.

“We believe that this activity is also in line with the ongoing economic diplomacy programme of the Philippine Embassy” said Consul Gonaranao B Musor.

Consul Musor cited the continuous increase in the number of real estate projects in the Philippines as obvious sign of the country’s economic development adding the huge population of Filipinos here presents a viable market for real estate developers.

He urged Filipinos to invest their hard-earned savings in real estate as well as encouraged Qatari and foreign nationals to consider investing and retiring in the Philippines. Pixel Fox Chairman Nasser Mansour and COO Hatim Aboussid Philippine Business Council-Qatar Chairman Greg Laoyon and Edgar Anami of United Filipino Organisations Qatar were also present at the panel.
