UAE- 2 held with drug pills worth Dh1.3m


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)The Sharjah Police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized over 62000 narcotic pills worth Dh1.3 million.

A senior police official said one of the suspects was arrested red-handed as he prepared to deliver the pills to addicts. About 60 pills were recovered from the suspect a Gulf citizen.

During interrogation he reportedly confessed that he received the pills from a Pakistani resident. The police raided this suspect's residence and seized the rest of the pills from there.

The two drug traffickers told police they smuggled the pills into the country with the help of some other people.

A senior official at the Anti-Narcotics department of Sharjah Police said the department would intensify efforts to curb drug abuse. The police will also coordinate with other departments concerned to raise awareness among the youth about dangers of drug use.
