Sharjah prepares to host 3rd Arab Publishers Conference in November 2015
SHARJAH 8th September 2015 (WAM) -- The Emirate of Sharjah is to host the 3rd Arab Publishers Conference APAC 2015 on 2nd and 3rd of November under the theme 'The Publishing Industry: Prospects and Challenges of the Digital Age'.
The conference will be attended by top publishing experts and professionals from around the world who will discuss ways to overcome the challenges faced by the publishing industry in the current development of digital content in the world.
The event which will be hosted in Sharjah as a joint effort between the Arab Publishers' Association APA and Emirates Publishers Association EPA will feature a full schedule of presentations and panel discussion sessions that address various topics and will provide networking sessions and professional meetings. The topics that will be discussed include Libraries Education Intellectual Property Copyright and Piracy Digital Distribution Freedom to Publish Translation and the Arabic Language and Content Development.
Dr. Mariam Al Shenasi President of the Emirates Publishers Association commented "The 3rd Arab Publishers Conference is the largest event dedicated to the publishing industry in the Arab world. It is hosted in Sharjah which under the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah has always been a major supporter of the local Arabic and regional publishing industry. This prestigious position of the Emirate of Sharjah will undoubtedly contribute to enriching the conference's sessions and will help make effective recommendations leading to overcoming obstacles and to forming a solid foundation upon which long term plans can be built to improve the publishing industry and take it to the international level."
She added "The significance of this conference is that it represents a platform for publishers and industry professionals to discuss a number of vital topics in publishing and its related industries such as printing design translation marketing and book fairs. The conference will provide networking opportunities and will bring together professionals from the East and West to share their visions and efforts with the aim of supplying readers and libraries with their latest and finest publications original and translated versions alike. We are looking forward to large-scale participation that will serve as an important addition to the rapidly growing regional publishing industry."
A number of organisations concerned with the publishing and cultural sectors will participate in APAC 2015 including the Arab Publishers' Association Emirates Publishers Association and various Arab publishing associations ministries of culture directors of public libraries directors of book fairs and government and private organisations concerned with the publishing industry. Other participants will include publishers intellectuals authors writers media representatives and legal and academic figures from across different Arab countries the region and the world.
