Palestinian President Meets Lithuanian PM

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday met Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed developments in the Palestinian territories and the political process in addition to ways of boosting cooperation ties between the two countries.

President Abbas stressed that the Palestinian side is committed to international efforts aiming at salvaging the peace process based on international legitimacy so as to establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on 1967 borders, noting that the current standstill is the result of the Israeli government's insistence on settlement activity.

For his part, the Lithuanian prime minister reaffirmed the importance of promoting bilateral relations in the economic, health and educational fields between the two countries.
