Turkey posts biggest monthly budget surplus in 10 years


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkey's Treasury posted a cash balance surplus of 25.7 billion Turkish liras ($8.5 billion) for August 2015, the Turkish Treasury reported Monday.
It was the largest monthly budget surplus in 10 years.

According to provisional figures released by the Turkish Treasury, its cash revenue for August was 61.8 billion liras ($20.5 billion), while non-interest expenditures were 32.6 billion liras ($10.8 billion).

The surplus came after interest payments of 3.5 billion liras ($1.15 billion).

The Treasury also reported a cash balance surplus of 2.6 billion Turkish liras ($860 million) for for the 2015 January-August period.

The Treasury's cash revenue for January to August was 312.3 billion Turkish liras ($103.3 billion), while its non-interest expenditures were 279.8 billion liras ($95.5 billion). The surplus came after interest payments of 36 billion liras ($11.9 billion).

The cash deficit, or cash surplus, is revenue minus expenses, minus net acquisition of nonfinancial assets. It differs in composition from the fiscal deficit, which includes all revenue and expenses.
