UAE residents are hopeful of better jobs personal savings


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A majority of UAE residents expect a positive outlook for the country in terms of economic situation business condition employment opportunities and personal financial position in the next six months.

This was revealed on Sunday in findings of a survey which was conducted by job site Bayt.com and research agency YouGov.

While 43 per cent of UAE respondents said their savings have decreased in comparison to last year the majority of residents have a positive outlook on the future of the country's economy as well as their own financial future according to the Middle East and North Africa Consumer Confidence Index survey.

"When looking at the region in its entirety the outlook is positive. When it comes to jobs the outlook is positive as well.

"Now is a good time for professionals to focus on job search strategies and brand themselves online" Suhail Al Masri vice-president of sales Bayt.com said in a statement.

Almost a third of UAE respondents believe the country's economy has improved in the last six months while 17 per cent feel it has receded.

Additionally a majority (59 per cent) of respondents expect the economy to improve in the next six months while one in five expect it to remain the same.

About half of employed respondents in the UAE believe business conditions are either good or very good (48 per cent) while 11 per cent feel business conditions are either bad or very bad.

Moreover the majority of employed respondents (71 per cent) believe business conditions will improve in a year's time.

Thirty-one per cent of UAE respondents believe their or their family's current financial situation is better now than it was six months ago and 41 per cent feel it remained the same. Nineteen per cent believe their financial situation is worse.

The future outlook is positive too: 59 per cent of respondents believe their personal financial situation will improve in the next six months while 22 per cent believe it will remain the same.

When it comes to cost of living 76 per cent of respondents expect it to increase while 10 per cent expect it to remain the same.

In the next 12 months 43 per cent of those surveyed plan to buy a motor vehicle 29 per cent wish to invest in property and 28 per cent plan to purchase a tablet or smartphone in the next six months.

At present half of the respondents believe there are plenty of jobs available in the UAE; with 29 per cent claiming availability across multiple industries and 21 per cent claiming availability across a limited number of industries. Around 34 per cent believe there are few jobs available in the UAE.

With regard to the future 46 per cent of UAE respondents expect job availability to increase in the next six months.
