Saudi- Wrong perceptions
(MENAFN- Arab News) I read with interest the article 'No such thing as Islamic terrorism' (Sept. 3) by Sabria S. Jawhar. Why do we have to offer such explanations every now and then?
One thing is for sure that we cannot change people's perception particularly in the West. Their minds have been conditioned to believe whatever their mainstream media tell them.
They don't realize that the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were wrong which only increased extremism in the world. Many in the West continue to believe that those invasions were meant to liberate people of those countries. It's said that it's all in the head. Perceptions about Islam and Muslims can only be changed if people think rationally. Without properly studying Islam nobody can understand this beautiful religion. The West is quick in making generalizations about Muslims on the basis of the wrong actions of a handful of people.
People associating Muslims with terrorism should visit the Muslim world and see for themselves that we are a peace-loving people and don't endorse the cruel actions of terrorist organizations like Daesh Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram etc. Farhad Qureshi Jubail
