UAE- Visitor in dock for involvement in 'gang rape' of 24 year old


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A 26-year-old Moroccan visitor faced a charge of rape for conspiring with four others to gang-rape a woman.

He allegedly was involved with a group of people convicted of rape human trafficking and running a brothel. The rape was reported on October 12 2012.

The woman a 24-year-old Pakistani on a visit visa said she came to the country after she was promised a job at a beauty salon. After arriving in the country she was taken to a flat where she found other women working as prostitutes. When she refused to work like them a man who brought her to the country asked to pay back Rs300000. "Since I did not have the money I stayed and worked as a cleaner at the flat."

He later sent her to parties just to "sit with men" and told her she did not need to have sex with them.

She attended a party in Al Karama where she was allegedly drank orange juice laced with sedatives. She felt dizzy and was taken to a flat in the International City.

There she was attacked by five men who allegedly gang-raped her. She was kicked out of the flat after that. She managed to get only her pants from the apartment and sought help from a woman next door for some clothes.

The woman however asked her to leave.

The complainant reported the incident at Al Rashidiyah police station. A police lieutenant said he interrogated the complainant at the police station. "Initially she said that a man in a cab offered her a spiked drink and then she felt dizzy."

However she changed her statement later and recounted how she was lured to travel here with a job offer.
