Qatar- Al Wakrah hospital gets 600 cases a day

(MENAFN- The Peninsula)DOHA: The emergency department at the Al Wakrah hospital a member of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) receives an average of 600 cases per day with different health issues according to a senior official.

The hospital and its services becoming popular among the patients received 203476 cases at its emergency department in 2014 and 112657 within the last six months said Dr Muayad Gassim Khalid director emergency department Al wakrah hospital.

Emergency Departments deliver high quality care to the most urgent cases 24 hours a day. And specialised teams are available around the clock to

deal with the most complex cases and trauma reported an Arabic daily.

The first category of patients received at the department includes patients who need immediate medical care without any delays and others are dealt according to their problems and conditions.

The average of waiting time at Al Wakrah hospital’s emergency department is less than one hour according to the director of the emergency department.

The director also said that 95 per cent of the cases are discharged in the same day after getting the required medications.

The remaining five per cent of the patients they stay under observations for six to 12 hours in special room for men with four beds and with three beds for women.

The department is also capable of accepting number of patients with sufficient number of beds equipments and facilities said Dr Khalid.

Also the hospital recently launched two new dedicated areas for male and female patients seeking emergency care at its Adult Emergency Department.

The newly-established ‘male triage and fast track area’ and ‘female triage and fast track area’ have implemented

the Canadian Triage and

Acuity Scale (CTAS) an evidence-based 5-point scale system that ensures patients are prioritised and streamlined according to the type and severity of their presenting signs and symptoms.
