Over 15 art galleries to showcase artistic talent in Dubai


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Make sure to mark your calendars as the 2016 art season starts off with a bang at Alserkal Avenue's Galleries Night. Galleries in the Al Quoz based art district will simultaneously open their doors to the public from 6pm - 9pm on September 14. Fifteen galleries and art spaces will be showcasing contemporary art exhibitions from video installations, paintings, photography and multimedia works.

Here are our picks for which galleries and shows to visit. Ayyam Gallery will showcase a selection of Noor Bahjat's new work as part of the Young Artist In Residency Graduation Exhibition. Lawrie Shabibi will open Immortals with returning artist Adel Abidin's second solo show at the gallery. Salsali Private Museum has an ongoing solo exhibition of Hazem Harb, The Invisible landscape and Concrete Futures. Down the street, Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde will welcome Haleh Redjaian's first solo show in the Middle East. Green Art Gallery's exhibition entitled After the Deluge will be a solo show of Syrian master Elias Zayat.

Around the corner, Carbon 12 presents new media artist, James Clar's second solo show, Double Rainbow All The Way and Gulf Photo Plus will welcome French-Italian photographer Matilde Gattoni whose exhibition HER is an ode to women from all corners of the world.

Alserkal Avenue will also be welcoming new galleries in November as part of the first phase of openings at the art district's new expansion. Additional launches and shows are scheduled in November this year and in January and March 2016.
