Defending Champions K2E2 Win 7th Season Opening Match


(MENAFN- Arab Times) With 12 participating teams, the 7th FTBK Tenpin Bowling Team Tournament rolled off at the Cozmo Entertainment Center in Salmiya. Present during the opening ceremonies were Consul General Raul Dado and Consul Jabbar Adiong of the Philippine Embassy together with the Overseas Absentee Voting team who conducted an on-site voters registration at the venue. On the same day, the winners of the just concluded 2015 FTBK-DOLLARCO Tenpin Bowling team Tournament were awarded their respective prizes. Presenting the awards were FTBK Chairperson Nenita Alinea and FTBK Director for Internal Affairs Bong Bermillo.

Meanwhile, the start of lane hostilities saw defending champion K2E2 Thunders kicking off their title retention bid with an impressive win over Klasmeyts-NLB. Also emerging victorious in the opening week of the elimination round were Power Station, Siete Pares 1, OGBL/Abannte, Napesco Strikers X and Rock N Bowl. The participating teams also includes DMDA Bowleros, Siete Pares 2, Cozmo Salmiya, D' Islanders and World Class.

Going through the results of the opening day match ups, a highly motivated K2E2 Thunders were off to an auspicious start annihilating the joint forces of Klasmeyts-NLB Corporation in all four games of the match en-route to a lopsided 3249-2791 victory.

Fresh from their scintillating 6th season final round performance, the defending champion looked able and ready in their quest for a back to back title. After dishing out a modest 780-730 victory in game 1 of the 4-game series match, K2E2 raised the level of their pin busting in the next three games where they completely dominated an off-formed Klasmeyts-NLB crew. Suiting up for the Thunders who booked 809-715, 808-649 and 827-697 victories in the games 2, 3 and 4 were Lee Mills, Jess Farne, Jhet Tan, Joan Latoja, Danny San Juan and Edwin Latoja. Bowling for the beleaguered Klasmeyts-NLB keglers who now has a home work in their hands were Bong Bermillo, Janet Shaikh, Rudy Zablan, Chris Bulacja, Ruben Cervantes, Nelson De Leon and Emma Gatus.

The Indian pin breakers of Power Station also debuted on a winning note by turning back the World Class keglers 3120-2999. Spearheaded by Anastasius Menezes, Rudolph Castellino and Joel Fernandes, Power Station short circuited World Class in games one and two, 788-713 and 716-660. Bannered by Bill Stiles, Ted Ashley, Jason Baker and Gina Ashley, World Class bounced back strong in game three to book an 873-756 victory and closed in on their rivals. Now ahead by only 3 pin falls 2249-2246 after three games, Power Station found the proper voltage in the fourth and final game of the match and sealed the victory through an 846-753 decision.

Also Bowling for Power Station in this outing were Fatima Sequeira, Nadine Dias and Siddarth Nair. Siete Pares 1 on the other hand posted a performance identical to that of World Class in their 3107-2878 success over D' Islanders. Led by Rico Galang, Egay Cabildo, Manny Nazaire, Rita Vidana, and Jazel Pangilinan, Siete Pares 1 clobbered D'Islanders in the first two games via 789-702 and 759-657 scores.

In game three and with Edgar Pascua, Danny Doctor, Orly Reyes and Bobby Carambas in the lineup, D' islanders dished out a well deserved 814-773. Still well ahead 2321-2148 at the end of the third game Siete Pares 1 wrapped up their opening day stint with a 761-705 victory.

Also among the first week winners was 6th season first runner up OGBL/Abannte who stopped Siete Pares 2 in a closely contested match 3038-2921. In games one and two, with Mousa Abdullah, Vicky Navarro, Jang Jung Lak, Jun Guerra and Yousef Ghandarfar manning the lanes, OGBL/Abannte easily clobbered their opponents 774-695 and 756-717.

Siete Pares 2 then momentarily regained their composure in the next game to take a 770-742 victory only to find their rivals on the winning side of the match once again in game four where OGBL/Abannte prevailed via a 766-739. Playing for Siete Pares 2 in this match up were JR Angeles, Ramon Aguilar, Lito Igot, Dorcas Sansone and Edwin De Mesa. Dishing out the most noteworthy performance of the week was Napesco Strikers X who surprised Cozmo Salmiyah with a 3008-2684 upset win. The two teams started out on even terms with Napesco Strikers taking the opening game 710-665 and Cozmo Salmiyah the next game 706-669.

Up by just one mark after two games 1379-1371, the Napesco Strikers crew of JR Sabado, Joseph Balo, Benny Chan, Ronald Ferolino and Gordon Peralta shifted their pin snipping to a higher level in the next two games where they grounded Cozmo 835-601 and 769-712. Going to the only other match of the week, Rock N Bowl joined the other five teams in the winner's circle by subduing the DMDA Bowleros. Headed by Al Belarmino, Chit Mariano, Elvie Sotio and Sonny Mariano, DMDA snatched game one of the match 747-615. Rocked by their initial poor showing an awakened Rock N Bowl crew of Romy Daus, Liza Catapia, Rod Llait, Norie Sairat, Romy Fermil and Tariq Sairat stormed to three consecutive 782-724, 755-655 and 778-690 victories en-route to a final winning tally of 2956-2816.

For the Individual and Team High scores the current record holders are as follows: Individual High Game Men Class O/A-Glenn Corbit 246, Men Class B-Anastasius Menezes 210, Ladies- Liza Catapia 214; High Average Men Class O/A-Edwin Latoja 205, Men Class B-Jess Farne 182, Ladies-Liza Catapia 173; Team High Game-OGBL/Abannte 848 and Team High Series-OGBL/Abannte 3333.
