Kuwait- MP Queries On Abdally Cell

Date:

(MENAFN- Arab Times) MP Abdullah Al- Turaiji has forwarded questions to First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah on the involvement of Iranian diplomats in the Abdally terrorist cell whose members have been referred to the Criminal Court. Following are the lawmaker's queries:

-  Did the ministry study the file of Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Ali Reza Enayati before his endorsement? The lawmaker demanded for a copy of the criteria for accepting ambassadors of other countries, if any. This is in addition to a copy of the curriculum vitae of the Iranian ambassador; including the positions he occupied in the Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry and other functions, whether governmental, academic or others.

-  Is the ministry aware of the ambassador's political orientations?

-  Did the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or any other country expel Enayati and file charges against him?

-  Did the ambassador take any action indicating his unwillingness to stay in those countries?

-  Does the ministry know that the ambassador, during his tenure as director of the Persian Gulf Department in the Iranian Foreign Ministry, attacked Saudi Arabia verbally and contravened diplomatic norms and laws through the statements he issued regarding the Saudi court ruling and other sovereignty matters? If yes, why did the ministry accept the ambassador even if he offended Saudi Arabia?

-  Is the ministry aware that Enayati served as an intelligence officer and he was in charge of the file on supporting the Houthi rebellion in Yemen from 2006 to 2009? If not, the ministry should present proof.

-  Is the ministry aware that the ambassador was responsible for the Bahrain file in 2011? If not, the ministry should present proof.

-  Is the statement issued by the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait on Thursday considered an encroachment on the sovereignty of Kuwait because it attacked the State's institutions and authorities? If yes, what steps have been taken in this regard?

-  Did an official source publish a response to the Iranian Embassy's statement on the ministry's website and Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)? If yes, the ministry should provide the name of the source, the nature of his job and degree?

-  Is the ministry aware that the anonymous official source's statement contravenes the Publication Law?

-  Why didn't the ministry summon the ambassador and present to him a letter in protest against the Iranian Embassy's statement which violated Kuwaiti sovereignty?

-  Does the ministry intend to call the Kuwaiti ambassador to Iran for consultations on the issue, especially since some Kuwaitis have been accused of collaborating with the Republic of Iran and certain members of the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait; in addition to associating with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to play an important role in this case as per the statement of the Public Prosecutor in Kuwait? If no, what is the reaction of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs to such serious charges?

-  Various media outlets have talked about the involvement of two Iranian diplomats in the terrorist cell according to the confessions of the accused and the prosecution letter sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. What are the names of these diplomats and what actions will be taken against them?

-  How many are the members of the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait? What is the name of the military attachÈ, his military rank and the positions he occupied before his appointment as military attachÈ?

-  Is there an agreement between Kuwait and Iran on the exchange of prisoners? If yes, what is the justification for signing this agreement?

In a related development, MP Ahmed Al-Qudaibi has stressed the need to study the previous incidents that rocked Kuwait, particularly the spread of terrorist ideologies.

He said the State must take serious steps to know the reasons behind the series of incidents related to terrorism, such as the suicide bombing and discovery of weapons arsenal. He also called on all the concerned authorities, including the government and Parliament, to quickly address these issues.
