S. Korea's foreign cars above USD41k grows in demand

(MENAFN) South Korea's overall plunge in domestic demand on cars didn't at all prevent the locals from rushing to pick up their foreign pricey brands to show their wealth, thus sales of costly foreign-made cars in S. Korea have been rising.

Expensive abroad models with price tags of more than USD41.5 thousand have been gaining popularity, especially Audi's A6 35 TDI sedan, which means imported cars under USD41 thousand saw there share fall to 44.4 percent last year.

In the first eight months of this year, imported car sales here came to 158,739 units, surging 23.2 percent from the 128,817 units tallied a year earlier, based on released data.

Furthermore, overall imported vehicle sales totaled 196,359 units in 2014, which is more than double the 90,562 units posted five years back, as far as overseas brands' overall share market is concerned, it has grew to 13.9 percent in 2014.
