Qatar- QU holds orientation for new faculty


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar University (QU) yesterday held the "Ya Hala 2015" academic orientation for the new faculty for providing them with the necessary information about the institution, the QU community, and to discuss related issues.
The new faculty were welcomed by QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham who apprised them of the university's diverse community which he said adds richness and depth to the teaching environment and instructional diversity to students.
Wishing them a wonderful and productive tenure at QU and in Qatar, Dr al-Derham stated "I believe that your teaching experience at Qatar University will contribute to enriching your academic journey, as the university offers to its faculty a range of opportunities for development and growth. This will be your second home in the coming years, and we hope it will be an inspiring environment that embraces and boosts your capabilities, knowledge, research aspirations and potential."
The programme agenda featured a presentation on "Introduction to QU Academic Life" delivered by associate vice president for faculty affairs Dr Khalid al-Ali, seminars on "Intercultural Communication and Mentoring" and "Introduction to Developing Course Portfolios", and a workshop on "Introducing Blackboard 9.1 at QU."
