(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A total of 121 consumer violations of various types were spotted by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) last month as part of its campaign to monitor the local market.
Most of the commercial outlets were pulled up for not posting price tags for items or fee list for services, and faulty or deceptive description of the items on display.
Among the other violations included not issuing a proper invoice, increasing prices without proper authorisation and display of expired products at the respective stores.
Penalties for such violations include administrative closure of the outlet for a certain period of time, and fines ranging between QR5,000 and QR30,000, according to the type and nature of the violation and the designated penalty in the law.
