UN thanks Qatar for success of meeting

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has issued a document under the theme "Doha Declaration" in the six official languages of the United Nations.
The "Doha Declaration" was adopted at the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention, held in Doha in April this year.
UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov thanked Qatar for its hospitality and efforts to make the UN Crime Congress a success.
At the introduction of the document, Fedotov reviewed in a summary the most important principles and objectives contained in the Doha Declaration, to which the UN member states confirmed their joint commitment.
Fedotov considered the Doha Declaration as a significant milestone at a time when the world leaders will meet to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the UN and formulate the post-2015 development agenda.
He noted that this declaration could help in further strengthening the collective efforts being made in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, boosting the rule of law and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development.
