US General electric's USD13.5b deal awaits approval


(MENAFN) The US industrial corporation, General Electric is patiently waiting European Commission's approval on its deal to acquire the power equipment business of France's Alstom, which is to be finalized soon.

The USD13.5 billion is considered to be GE's largest acquisition ever, which will join forces of the two world's largest producers of power plant hardware, not to mention the many benefits GE will get.

The US firm projects USD3 billion in cost reductions over the next five years as it combines its operations with those of Alstom, let alone adding approximately 20 cents per share to incomes in 2018.

To make all this possible, GE is aimed at make savings on purchasing expenses, cutting duplicated overheads, and last but not the least, to combine manufacturing operations.
