(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) In the framework of its Al-Shafi'e program, the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) organized graduation of 114 Jordanian Quran students, males and females, Saturday night.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Applied Science Private University, gathered Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij, IICO chairman Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq and its Director General Salem Hamada, rector and professors of the university, and dozens of the graduates' relatives.
Speaking to KUNA and Kuwait TV, Dr. Al-Maatouq said: "We take great pride in this constellation of Jordanian youths who participated in Al-Shafi'e program and completed learning the Holy Quran in just three years." He thanked the participants in the program and their parents who encouraged them to learn the Holy Quran.
"The IICO graduates more than 100 Quran learners a year and some of the learners complete the course in ten months," Dr. Al-Maatouq added.
On his part, Ambassador Al-Duaij spoke highly of the IICO efforts to promote Quran learning and advance this holy program in collaboration with the Jordanian Quran preservation society (Hoffadh).
He congratulated the new graduates on their achievement and appreciated their perseverance and dedication to preserve the Holy Quran.
Meanwhile, Hamada said Al-Shafi'e program attracted 600 Jordanian youths including today's graduates.
Head of the program Khaled Al-Qassar said the enrolment in the program topped 4,000 people in 23 countries.
He extolled His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for sponsoring the IICO activities and thanked the Kuwaitis and Jordanians who contributed to the success of the program.
