KSA seeks to resolve Mideast crises
(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: The meeting between Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and President Barak Obama on Friday was aimed at finding solutions to the conflicts troubling the Middle East.
Abdullah Al-Moalimi the Kingdom's permanent ambassador to the United Nations said that the talks were of particular significance because they cames in the wake of Iran's agreement with the 5+1 group.
Al-Moalimi said Riyadh's approach has always been honest and transparent which is the personal style of King Salman at all times. The main priorities would not be about Saudi Arabia's self-interest but what solutions the United States can provide for the entire region he said.
'These include a solution to the Palestinian issue which is based on the establishment of two independent states with Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital' he added. 'Riyadh is calling on the Palestinian people to decide their own issues.'
Al-Moalimi said the Kingdom is also calling on the American administration to find a solution to the Syrian crisis. He said the Kingdom is already cooperating with the United States to overcome several issues affecting the region such as terrorism and extremism.
'Terrorism is a global issue and the Kingdom has called for the establishment of a global center to fight terrorism and provided $100 million to support the United Nations on this issue.'
He said the two leaders would also discuss the nuclear agreement with Iran and hopes the trip would result in positive outcomes for mutual benefit. The visit indicates the deep relationship and trust between the two countries he said.
