Qatar- Bedaya holds summer camp for 70 varsity, school students


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and career Development (Bedaya Center) held a week long Bedaya Summer Camp from 23rd € 27th August for 70 male and female university and high school students from different educational institutions.

The summer camp included several workshops focusing on communication skills, personality analysis, leadership skills, business development and CV writing. Students had a fun introductory workshop at Aljazeera café located in Katara to kick-start the summer camp. Other fun activities were also on the agenda such as visits to the Aqua Park, Museum of Islamic Art and the Sheikh Faisal Museum, parasailing, and art and hand crafting sessions.

At the end of the Summer Camp, students were given job shadowing assignments in several major local companies based on their career interests. The companies involved were QNB (for those interested in a business and marketing career), SIDRA (aimed at students interested in administration and medical careers), QF Legal department (for budding lawyers and paralegal aspirants), QChem (for those interested in petrochemical engineering), HMC (for students considering medical careers) and Aljazeera network (appealing to those interested in media and PR careers).

Reem Al Suwaidi, General Manager, Bedaya Center, said: "Bedaya's Summer Camp gave students who attended a great opportunity to use their summer holidays in a very productive way to learn some key workplace skills and further their career interests by experiencing working in their chosen career in job shadowing placements."

Bedaya Center's Summer Camp tops several major initiatives and activities Bedaya has achieved this year in career development that have already benefitted approximately 2,000 Qatari youth. Bedaya has also offered job shadowing opportunities to some 200 students to date to help them identify the ideal career path for the future to match their skills and personality.
