60 Omani students complete Takatuf summer program

As many as 60 Omani grade 10 students completed theirannual 22-dayTakatufSummer ResidentialProgramme(SRP) recently.

According to a press release the students underwent the course at the Caledonian College of Engineering's Airport Heights campus.

The programme provided interactive learning which centred on developing critical thinking reflection research and communication skills and expertise in information and communication technology.

The students were taught by international educators. The new learning tools help Takatuf Scholars work on multi-disciplinary projects that focus on contemporary issues important to Oman and are related to environment economy and education. The students were engaged for up to 14 hours a day as part of the programme.

They were taken on study tours to places of historical and contemporary interest such as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque the STOMO desalination plant the Botanical Gardens in Al Khoudh and Nizwa Souq. The educational trips enabled students to gain insights into key areas of cultural and economic interest added the release.

In keeping with Takatuf's commitment to develop Omani best practice in all aspects of human capital development SRP conducted two new events 'Career Night' and 'Homecoming'. 'Career Night' was an interactive session where students and representatives from sponsor organisations discussed career opportunities and preparedness. 'Homecoming' was a networking event which saw around 200 Takatuf Scholars from 2012-14 the release added.
