Qatar nod to formation of Gulf Football Federation

DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Wednesday decided in principle to back the formation of Gulf Football Federation.

This was announced after QFA’s Annual General Assembly (AGM) attended by President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al -Thani Vice President Saud Al Mohannadi and other senior officials at the Four Seasons Hotel.



QFA President said Qatar football body was in favour of such organization that would look after the interest of the sport fans and all stakeholders in the region.

He said football clubs in Qatar were also addressed on the matter.

Sheikh Hamad said the Qatar Stars League (QSL) sides and the Rasgas outfits have also been approached on football matters.

It was unanimously decided to launch more football events in various age brackets besides adding sides like Yemen and Iraq in the GCC fold.
