(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, on Thursday stressed that the region's recent turmoil, growing violence and terrorism will not end until reaching a just and durable solution to the Palestinian cause, which puts an end to the Israeli violations against the people of Palestine and its sanctities.
In separate meetings with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Anne Brasseur, and the Canadian House of Commons Speaker, Andrew Scheer, Tarawneh discussed latest developments in the region, including the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis and the situation in Yemen and Iraq as well as efforts to fight terrorism.
Tarawneh highlighted the Kingdom's comprehensive reform process under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, which went smoothly and without spilling one drop of blood.
Talks also touched on the constant waves of refugees crossing into the Kingdom, which placed profound new pressures on the already over-stretched resources of the country. Tarawneh, called on the international community to stand by Jordan to be able to mitigate the impact of the Syrian crisis.
The officials expressed their appreciation to Jordan's key role in hosting Syrian refugees and stressed the need for more international aid to help the Kingdom cope with hosting hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians . They also valued achievements and reforms Jordan accomplished under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
