OIC condemns attack on AMISOM military base in Somalia

JEDDAH 3rd September 2015 (WAM) -- The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC has strongly condemned the recent attack by Al-Shabaab militants on the Janale military base of the African Union Peace keeping Mission in Somalia AMISOM in the South-West of the country resulting in the loss of lives of several Ugandan peacekeepers.

OIC Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani while extending his sincere condolences to the families of victims conveyed his deep sympathy to the government and people of Uganda and urged them to sustain their morale and commitment to the cause of durable peace in Somalia.

The Secretary-General reassured Somali authorities and the international community of the determination of the OIC to continue to actively support the stabilisation efforts by intensifying its contributions towards peace building in this OIC member state.
