UK- Eurostar services face disruptions after migrants enter Chunnel

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Eurostar services between Europe and Britain continue to face disruptions Wednesday after overnight closure due to the presence of illegal migrants in the Channel Tunnel, Eurostar said in a statement.
But the operator said it hoped to resume services to normal level during the day and keep cancellations between Paris, Brussels and London to a minimum, hopefully only two.
The closure of the link was provoked late Tuesday after a number of people were found on the tracks of the Chunnel and some tried to climb on to the roof of one of the trains, forcing the operator to cut the power.
One train was stranded in the tunnel and had to be towed back to the French side and hundreds of passengers were stranded at Calais station for 11 hours, with many abandoning their travel plans.
Entry into the Chunnel by migrants is a rare occurrence as many of the 3,500 migrants in the Calais region, who are seeking to get to Britain, try to stow away on trucks or use other means to try to cross the Channel.
Security at the entrance of the Chunnel is also high and entering is very dangerous, although at least one person has crossed on foot to Britain and was arrested.
France and the EU have just announced more efforts to deal with the refugee problem in Calais and will build a new Euros 10 million camp to replace "The Jungle," a dangerous and unhealthy zone of shanty towns built in the forests around the French city.
