Qatar stock index drops 289.51 points; market cap shrinks QR14bn

DOHA: Amid uncertainties in major global markets Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index today tumbled 289.51 points or 2.49 percent wiping out nearly QR14bn from the market capitalization when the bourse closed trading at 11345.53 points Thursday.

The daily turnover increased to QR375.32m with a volume of 7766317 shares from 6638 deals compared to QR238.84m with a volume of 5215636 shares from 3577 deals on Wednesday.

The market capitalization decreased to QR599.76bn from QR613.74bn registered Wednesday.

Indices of all sectors ended in red today. Telecoms index dropped today 5.27 percent to 965.86 points. Insurance index decreased 3.19 percent to 2664.01 points and Real Estate index declined 2.59 percent to 2664.01 points.

QSE Total Return Index decreased to 2.49 percent to 17635 points QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index lost 2.81 percent to 4402.56 points and QSE All Share Index dropped 2.32 percent to 3032.89 points.

Of the 43 companies listed on QSE investors exchanged shares of 42. Of them one gained 37 went down four unchanged.
