Afghan Airstrike Kills 4 Senior Taliban Commanders

KABUL: Four senior Taliban commanders have been killed in an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan a security official said on Thursday according to Khaama Press.



Colonel Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal spokesman for the police headquarters of Nangarhar province said the airstrike was carried out in Kotikhil area of Shirzad District yesterday.

He identified those killed in the airstrike as commanders of Taliban's Jaipur group namely: Zarwali Sifatullah Ghondi and Zargai.



Afghan security forces also detained Qudratullah Alias Bilal the shadow governor of Taliban for Shirzad District.

Colonel Mashriqiwal said that Qudratullah was apprehended with Shawkat a group commander of Taliban during a raid in Fatih Abad area of Surkh Rod District yesterday.



Afghan troops backed by NATO-led security forces have been busy in large scale military operation against Taliban and Daesh in Nangarhar.
