Kuwait Participate In 13th Asian Karate Champ'ship In Japan


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Imad Behbehani, General Secretary of Kuwait Karate Federation, along with a team of sixteen players and officials, left for Yokohama, Japan to participate in the 13th Asian Karate Championship to be held Sept 4-6. The players will compete in the championships involving Kata and Kumite level players for men and women. The delegation headed by a member of the board of the Kuwait Karate Federation, Abdul Aziz Shaaban, includes coaches Ala Hawaj and Bader Jaber Al-Hamad Al-Otaibi in addition to the 10 players who are Salman Sayed Mohamed and Mohamed Ahmed (kata), and Abdullah Shaaban and Musah Hajih, Ali Hassan Saad, Ahmad Rashidi Musfer and Fahd Mohammed Majada.

The delegation is also accompanied by four referees of Kuwait to participate in the arbitration of the tournament. They include Zafiri and Nasser Mansour Sultan and Abdullah Ismail Baloch. They left on the same flight with Imad Behbehani to participate in the Asian Karate Federation-AKF games which will take place tomorrow in the same city, Yokohama under the supervision of President of the Asian Karate Federation Chang of Chinese Taipei. The Karate Union in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee nominated Behbehani for membership in the AKF to take part in the Presidential elections for 2015 which will take place on September 3.

For his part, Abdul-Aziz Shaaban, head of the delegation, said that the willingness of Blue karate Asian championship team began at the end of last season, through the daily intense workouts. He said: "The players began to build the team under the supervision of the technical staff composed of four national trainers involved in training programs with the players and on two shifts in an Internal camp, and then we participated in last July's Open tournament in Thailand in which we harvested three gold, two silver and one bronze, then engaged an internal team camp to travel to Japan until the deadline."

Shaaban also said that he hopes that through the team's participation in the Asian Championships representing Kuwait appropriately and confirming the status of the Kuwaiti Karate in continental and international forums and to achieve positive results through the efforts and experience of their players who came through to achieve colored medals. Shaaban expressed his thanks to the Council of the Union of Karate for their support to the team during the last period, particularly the Chairman of the Board, Sheikh Khalid Al-Abdullah, who overcame all the obstacles to setup dates following both small and large in order that the players are prepared in a manner that befits the status of the tournament.
