Dubai Police intervenes to find a home for 120 evicted workers

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)The Dubai police managed to solve the accommodation issue of 120 workers who were forced out of their accommodation after a court verdict.

According to Lt. Colonel Saeed Rashid Al Heli acting Director of the Human Trafficking Crime Control Centre General Department of Human Rights of the Dubai Police the workers have been working for an insolvent company which was unable to pay them their salaries and accommodation rent on time.

The landlord filed a lawsuit with the rent disputes settlement committee which gave its verdict in favour of the landlord and ordered the building be evicted.

The workers then lodged a complaint with the General Department of Human Rights at the Dubai police explaining their woes.

Officials from the department negotiated with the landlord and convinced him to wait until another accommodation was provided by the company and reminded him of the condition of workers as they have nothing to do with the rent but the company.

The Dubai Police asked the insolvent company to try to provide the workers with another accommodation as fast as possible.

Al Heli said the company provided the workers with another neat accommodation within a day of the eviction order to which the Dubai Police made a visit in order to check its condition in terms of hygiene and provision of public safety.
