Qatar- QTA Awarded Best Arab Government Tourism Authority


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Monday announced receiving the award of "Best Arab tourist governmental body" for 2015, and granted by the Arab Center for Media tourism, for their the significant achievements on the level of Arab tourism.

In a statement released today, QTA said that the award was handed by the Omani minister of tourism Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mehrizi to Director of Marketing and Promotions at QTA Rashed Al Qurese, at a gala held in the Omani capital Muscat.

Chairman of the QTA Eissa bin Mohamed Al Mohannadi expressed his pleasure at the progress and accomplishments achieved by the State of Qatar in the development of the tourism sector, stressing that this achievement is the culmination of the efforts of the QTA and its partners to promote the industry in the State of Qatar.

He explained that Qatar's national strategy for the tourism sector 2030 is going on a steady pace towards achieving the seven million visitors' mark by 2030. All the signs indicate that Qatar is on its way to break the three million visitors barrier at the end of 2015, he said.

There has been a 7% increase in the number of foreign visitors received in Qatar in the first half of 2015 compared to the same period last year, according to QTA report on tourism performance.
