Jordan- 2,676 tourists visit Southern Mazar shrines in August


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The number of visitors to the shrines and tombs of Prophet Mohammad's companions in the Southern Mazar District, 140 kilometers south of Amman, reached some 2,676 people of different nationalities in August, an official said on Tuesday.

The Supervisor of the Shrines,Osama Al Tarawneh, stressed that the Shrines of the Prophet's Companions, in addition to the prevailing security and stability, helped the Kingdom attract local and international religious tourists.

Of the total visitors to the district last month, 832 were from Islamic and foreign countries, 844 from Arab states and 1,000 were Jordanians, he noted.

He added that work is underway to establish parks and connect the shines together to provide more facilities to the visitors.
