Saudi- Teachers pay for school maintenance in Riyadh
(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Teachers contributed from their personal funds to repair certain damaged facilities on the campus of one of the government middle schools in Riyadh.

Parents and guardians of the schools have expressed their displeasure over the poor maintenance of the facility. The newspaper said that over the past five years the teachers themselves have been paying for maintenance and repairs.
They did the same thing two days ago. One of the teachers volunteered to repair the washrooms at a cost of not less than SR1000.
The letters written to the Ministry of Education copies of which are in the possession of the newspaper said that the school had sent complaints about many maintenance issues including the caving in of land cracks in the wall near the road since 1435H falling of roof seepage in the drainage system in adjoining buildings and water which has become polluted due to the leakage in the sewage system.
Among the major expenses of the teachers were purchases of water tanks to provide clean water changes of electric bulbs and doors of classrooms.
In view of the leaking sewage students and employees of the school use wooden boards to cross the area when they go out. The plaster of the walls of the building has fallen off and some of the rooms smell.
In a 5.8 square meter room 55 girl students sit for studies. The air conditioners in the school do not work.
