(MENAFN- The Peninsula)DOHA: Doha Municipality has shut down a restaurant in Musherib area of the city and filed a police complaint after which its manager and workers have been detained.
Legal action is being taken against the eatery because it was using foodstuff that was not only past its use-by date but had also turned bacterial.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported yesterday that there was a provision store next to this eatery where expired food items including 50 kg semi-rotten meat were confiscated.
Mohamed Bu Hashim Al Sayed head of food monitoring unit of Doha Municipality coordinated with the Capital Police after civic inspectors found the eatery to be at fault and the matter has been referred to the Prosecution.
QNA said people can file complaints on 44266666.

Qatar’s population 2.12m in July
DOHA: The country’s population rose to 2.12 million in July showing 10.4 percent year-on-year growth official figures show. The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics releasing monthly statistics for July said the number of visitors to the country increased by 8.2 percent year-on-year.
Of the total number of visitors 42.8 percent were from the neighbouring GCC states said the Ministry.
As for vehicle registrations the number fell in July to 7729 as compared to 9933 a drop of 22.2 percent. THE PENINSULA
1900 AC buses for Independent Schools
DOHA: Some 1900 air-conditioned school buses have been readied to transport Independent School students in the new academic year that begins from September 6.
Of the total 450 are new buses and another batch of 500 new buses will be added to the fleet from October. The new buses have lower seating capacity so they take less time to travel between a student’s home and school and back. Parents have been complaining that bigger buses take more time.
