Kuwait- MoH Seeks To Expand Health Services

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ministry of Health is seeking to expand and improve public health services in the country to create a health-supportive environment, as part of a long-term international development initiative of healthy cities by World Health Organization (WHO). The program aims to place health high on the agendas of decision makers and to promote comprehensive local strategies for health protection and sustainable development.

Assistant Undersecretary for civil medical services at the Ministry of Health Dr. Muhammad Al-Khashti said in a press conference, on Sunday, that training programs will be held in cooperation with WHO to improve the ministry's staff performance and raise their awareness on this matter. He added that WHO has set 80 international standards to register any cities within its international healthy cities foundation, pointing out that there are six Kuwaiti cities registered and the country is seeking to include additional three cities every year to this international foundation.

A healthy city is one that is continually creating and improving those physical and social environments and expanding those community resources which enable people to mutually support each other in performing all the functions of life and developing to their maximum potential.
