(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Cabinet on Monday condemned the terrorist attack that hit Bahrain's village of Karrana, killing a policeman and injuring seven people. It offered condolences to the "martyr's" family and wished the injured speedy recovery. During its customary meeting held at Seif Palace and chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Cabinet voiced rejection and condemnation of all forms of violence and terrorism that target security and stability in Bahrain. Emerging from the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said that the ministers reiterated Kuwait's support to all measures the Kingdom would take to safeguard it security and stability and people's safety. Meanwhile, the Cabinet endorsed today the liquidation of the National Offset Company, bringing to a full halt the offset program in Kuwait. It entrusted the Direct Investment Promotion Authority with coordinating with the relevant bodies to fulfill commitments of the existing offset projects.
The ministers named Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah to be in charge of the newly-established Public Authority for Sports. During the meeting, the Cabinet approved and referred to His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah a draft bill for regulating electronic media. The prime aim of the bill is to cope with the world's media boom, reflecting Kuwait's keenness on enhancing freedom of opinion and expression and reinforcing "responsible freedom," Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah said.
The bill will later find its way to the National Assembly. Similarly, the Cabinet approved and referred to His Highness the Deputy Amir a host of draft decrees on cooperation agreements between Kuwait and other countries. These include two agreements for cultural cooperation with Morocco and Sudan; a MoU for exchanging legal and judiciary expertise with Algeria; a pact on exemption of entry visa for diplomatic passport holders with Romania and a MoU for cooperation in the field of higher education with Bahrain. The draft decrees will later be referred to the National Assembly. In the meantime, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Hamad Al-Essa reviewed a report on the arrangements and preparations for the academic year 2015-2016 that starts within days.
