Kuwait- MP Urges Govt To Address Expected 'Budget Deficit'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The government must address the expected budget deficit which should not affect the daily needs of citizens, while the Parliament is keen on overcoming all difficulties and stopping the wastage of public funds, says Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee in the National Assembly MP Mubarak Al- Harees. In a press statement, the lawmaker pointed out, "We share the government's concern over the expected budget deficit due to the continuous oil price decline.

However, we will reject any step that will negatively affect the citizens." He called on the government to set an example in stopping the wastage of public funds and rationalizing expenses of government agencies. He also stressed the need for the government to discuss ways to diversify sources of national income with the Parliament, indicating this should be the priority of both authorities in the next legislative round.

On the other hand, MP Khalil Abdullah has forwarded questions to Minister of Oil and State Minister for National Assembly Affairs Ali Al-Omair on the fish boycott in his capacity as the minister in charge of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). He requested for details such as the annual fish production and quantity of imported and exported fish in the past five years, sources of imported fish - both fresh and frozen, regulations for importing fish, types of local fish sold in the market and those for export.
