UAE chairs meeting of Social Commission of Arab League's Economic and Social Council

CAIRO 31st August 2015 (WAM) -- The preparatory meetings for the 96th regular session of the Arab League's Economic and Social Council has began at ministerial level at which the UAE chairs the current session.

The UAE's official delegation is headed by Mohammed Saleh Shalwah Adviser to the Minister of Economy for Arab League Affairs.

During the meeting Mr. Shalwah hailed the efforts of the Kingdom of Jordan during its presidency of the previous session and wished success for the UAE in its presidency of the current session to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the leaders and peoples of the Arab world.

The agenda of the Social Committee's meeting included an article on the follow-up to implement the decisions of the 95th session of the Council as well as special recommendations on social file of the Arab League Council at the summit level at its next session scheduled to be held in Morocco in March 2016.

The preparatory meetings came before the 96th ministerial session of the Economic and Social Council next Thursday and is scheduled to discuss several important issues at the Arab level.
