Qatar- No serious injuries in Ramez mishap

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Ministry of Interior said yesterday that no one suffered serious injuries in the partial ceiling collapse at Ramez shopping centre on Saturday.

All the injured who were rushed to hospital were discharged soon after receiving treatment, said the ministry.

The Civil Defence Directorate dispatched rescue teams to the centre as the operation room got a call for help.

There were shoppers in the centre at the time the incident took place and among the injured were some workers of the outlet. Civil Defence teams propped up the damaged ceiling immediately to prevent its further collapse. The ministry said in its statement that people were trapped inside the shopping outlet after the collapse as exits were blocked by the falling rubble.

The rescue teams of Civil Defence took the people out to safety and rushed those who had received minor injuries for treatment. The ministry didn't cite the number of people injured nor did it say if there were children and women among them.
