Two brothers among three booked for kidnap rape

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)Three men including two Emirati brothers and a Comoros Islands passport holder faced charges on Sunday for allegedly kidnapping four people from their shared accommodation after posing as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers and physically assaulting them.

The incident allegedly happened on April 20.

The two brothers identified as A.Z. (unemployed 34) and B.Z. (employee 27) and the third defendant (a 19-year-old student identified as A.A.) were accused of kidnapping two Sri Lankan women an Indian man and a Sri Lankan.

After duping the victims and taking them off the car the accused dropped the men on the way and took the women to a villa in Al Quoz where they allegedly assaulted and raped them.

While A.Z. and B.Z. were accused of rape and sexual assault A.A. was accused of aiding and abetting others in the criminal act.

All of the three faced kidnap impersonating police officers and physical assault charges in the Court of First Instance.

The first alleged rape victim 40 said in the investigation that the defendants barged in their place as the door was not locked.

"There was a Bangladeshi man with them. They claimed they were CIDs and asked for our IDs."

She told that both of them had no IDs as they were runaway housemaids.

"They dragged us outside on the pretext they would take us to the police station." When the other two men who lived with the women asked the intruders to show their IDs they were slapped and taken by force to the defendants' car waiting outside.

"They dropped the two men in Al Satwa shortly later and took off their car's registration plate number."

She added that one of the defendants stole a golden necklace from her and gave Dh30 to take a cab after the rape.

When she reached her home she found a police patrol car waiting there.

She knew that one of her flat mates had called the police.

The taxi driver who dropped her there led the police to the villa. The police freed the other woman and arrested the accused.

The other victim 26 gave a similar statement in the investigation. The two women identified the three defendants among other suspects at the police station.

The two brothers have criminal records.

The hearing has been adjourned to September 16.
