Oman- Missing woman hiker found dead from dehydration

A woman who was in the group of eight expatriates who got lost while hiking in Al Samini in Buraimi's wilayat of Mahdha was found dead on Sunday morning bringing to an end an intensive search operation by the ROP.

The woman in her thirties died of dehydration from exposure to extreme heat the ROP said. A child was among the seven rescued by the ROP on Saturday. All are safe and in good health. A group of 12 expatriates went hiking on Saturday morning. On way back eight including the child got separated.

An ROP helicopter backed by land patrols and a Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances team launched a search operation. All except the woman were located. Her body was found on Sunday morning.
