US confirms death of top Daesh recruiter


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The U.S. on Friday confirmed the death of a top Daesh recruiter and cyber expert, killed in an airstrike in Syria.

"We can confirm that Cuneid Hussein and ISIL operative was killed in a U.S. military airstrike on Aug. 24 in al-Raqqah Syria," Col. Pat Ryde told reporters during a telephone conference at the Pentagon.

The CENTCOM official did not provide details about tracking and the striking process of the incident.

Ryde said Hussein was actively involved in recruiting sympathizers for the militant group in the West "to carry out lone-wolf style attacks".

As a top cyber expert of the terror group, Hussein was also responsible for personally identifying information of approximately 1,300 U.S. military and government employees as well as seeking to direct attacks on U.S. soldiers and government employees.
